Lake Anna was created in 1972 to provide energy to Central Virginia. The wonderful thing is it also created a fabulous vacation and resort area, which has become a very special place to live. For anyone that enjoys boating, sailing, tubing, waterskiing, fishing, swimming, or just relaxing Lake Anna is the place to be. The good life does not stop there. Experience the beautiful sunrises and sunsets over the lake and you will know what I mean. Lake Anna is located in Central Virginia just a short drive to shopping, airports, historic sites, theaters, nightlife and all the pleasures of the D.C. metropolitan area, Fredericksburg, Richmond, and Charlottesville. Closer still are the county seats of Louisa and Spotsylvania. All types of outdoor activities are available at either Lake Anna or locations within a short distance.
With the creation of the lake came the realization that this was a great spot to develop as a get away for many people outside the area. Communities began to develop with most of them having a combination of waterfront lots and water access lots. The access lots have access to the lake through a common area owned by that particular community. The common area consists of a ramp, boat slips and possibly other amenities such as a beach area, tennis courts, basketball courts, and/or outdoor pools. For those that were ready to delve into home ownership here at the lake they had the good fortune to find a broad range of prices making it very possible for almost everyone to find just what they were looking for. Right now, the inventory is even greater, the prices even lower, and the timing just right to find the perfect spot whether it be land or a ready built home. Although the lake is divided into two parts, the main lake and the private side, property prices are similar on both sides. Value is determined by the type of lot (size, waterfront vs. water access, amount of water frontage, lake views, etc.) and the type of home (size, style, upgrades, with or without a garage, etc.) making most properties unique. Lake Anna has many one of a kind waterfront and water access homes. Lake Anna has proven to be an ideal location for vacation homes, weekend getaways, investment property, and full time living. The local real estate market includes all of these types of properties. The choices are as varied as the prices. As the years have passed, more and more part-timers became full time residents and began calling Lake Anna home. More subdivisions have been developed with additional amenities so there have been changes. New businesses are springing up around the lake providing some of the creature comforts we like to have. In spite of the growth experienced all around Lake Anna, the area retains its country feel. It remains a place that combines the beauty of Lake Anna with the peacefulness of authentic rural life. The cows, horses, the deer, fox, eagles, blue herons, and other assorted animals and birds can often be seen while you are driving from place to place. For someone that is looking for a place out in the country or in a small town environment there are farms and homes that fit their criteria.
